10 Artists showcases artists living and working within the Western Downs through video, images, profiles and artworks. The exhibition emerged as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and associated shutdown, which negatively impacted the arts community, particularly through the cancellation of art exhibitions and associated events.
Arts and culture are a valued part of daily life for most Australians, particularly in our regions. In an unprecedented time when many things are put on hold, artists and their art were the first to suffer.
Through the challenges of this global pandemic there is motivation to explore different ways to support artists and present art within our region.
10 Artists reflects the diversity of our region and showcases both emerging and established artists, whose contribution contributes to the fabric of our arts community. This inaugural exhibition highlights the deep connection between places of inspiration, the narrative of each artist’s story, their practice and relationship to their regional community.
The Western Downs Regional Council would like to thank the artists involved in this project.
