Through Lost lines, the artist captured the rural reality of being beyond the bars of reception at her family farm. Each pen stroke serves to portray how the figure is seemingly at one with nature yet is tethered to her phone, struggling to maintain societal connections whilst living amongst the tranquility of rural life.
Curator’s Comment
The simplicity of this work is part of its strength, and you have demonstrated the effective leveraging of a simple medium. You have demonstrated a good understanding of form and composition and could further leverage the depiction of light and shadow in future works. The artwork statement denotes authentic experience and a tension between environment and cognitive disconnection with this. It would be interesting to further explore this tension visually in the work.
